Friday Extracurricular Activities for Students

You may have heard that extracurricular is an important part of your school life. You've probably been bombarded with stories about how some of the high school students who are successful in getting into prestigious college played a varsity sport or was student body president.

That is why here at Yayasan Al Ma’soem Bandung, extracurricular activities for students are considered to be one of the main focus in its educational system. Exploring and developing students’ talent, potential and interest are as important as their academics. School years are one of the best opportunities for students to explore new activities, try different things, and see what they are passionate about. Inside the classroom and outside of it, they will start to get a better idea of who they are and what drives them.

It may seem odd that colleges are going to be interested in how students choose to spend their free time. The reality is that, combined with grades and test scores, extracurricular activities are one of the best ways that colleges will be able to get an idea of who the students are.

That’s why every Friday all Al Ma’soem students are obliged to have their own extracurricular activities to develop their outside-class skill. Currently there are about thirty three extracurricular activities that could be chosen according to one’s interest, and the only limit is that, as long as the students could manage their time and schedule they could take any number of extracurricular activities they want to join.

The Chairman of Yayasan Al Ma’soem Bandung, Dr. H. Ceppy Nasahi Ma’soem, before all the students, staffs and teacher in Al Ma’soem said that, “By offering the students with a wide variety of these activities so that our students can explore new areas of study, have challenging new experiences, and compete in intramural sporting events. Extra curricular activities enrich a student's education, growth and development.”
